The pros: Trader Joe's Frosted Sugar Cookies are a sweet and decadent bit of sweetness.

The cons: One cookie is 160 calories. There are lots of other desserts that have far fewer calories.

The verdict:  Sometimes, I am the long taste tester here. Sometimes I have help. Today's review is helped along by some very willing students in my class. (Seriously, how else can I get through the cookie aisle without help?)

Now, as a point of clarification, I work full time in a middle school. I've been an 8th grade history teacher for 13 years now. If I've learned anything about this age group, they will tell you exactly what is on their mind. They will tell you if you look like crap or if you are a bit bloated ask if you are pregnant. There is no filter on them which is their best and worst quality.

So, I had one, the kids helped with the other 9 cookies in this container. The kids put it best, these are "good." But these did not reach rave reviews. Now, don't get me wrong, all of these were consumed in one sitting.

Each cookie is its own serving. Each one is filling. Each one is a bit dusty. It's was like each cookie had corn starch dusted on the perfectly round cookie to start with. But each cookie was very plain and almost needed an additional pinch of salt to bring up the flavor.

The highlight here was not the cookie. It was the frosting. The frosting was sweet and buttery tasting. The sprinkles add just a touch of texture. The sprinkles are the same color as the chocolate drops.

For $2.99 for 10 cookies, I tend to agree with the kids. These are just good. Nothing that will knock your socks off, but a cookie that is satisfying after just one. There were no complaints, but no major compliments on this one either. I've brought in other cookies that the kids have fawned over far more than these.

They're solid. They're good. But nothing that will make you sit and eat the whole package in one sitting.

I wonder if these taste like those controversial lofthouse cookies?

People either love or hate those. Similar to what you had at TJ's. I am not a fan since it is throatsearing sweet!
