The pros:   Trader Joe's Gummy Tummies Penguins are a tasty candy that kids and adults may enjoy. It made me a bit nostalgic.

The cons:  I wish these came in lunch sized portions. My husband and I ate these in one sitting.

The verdict:  For $1.99 these will have a wide appeal. If you grew up in the 1980s-1990s you'll remember a candy that is still around called Fruit Gushers. They were one of the hottest commodities in the lunch table. They were easy to share and even easier to barter with. They had a flavor that most children love: they were very sweet and had a fruit flavored sugar goo in the middle of them.

They were a bit of a double whammy. The outside was very sweet and so was the inside. Now, mix that with a gummy bear that has none of the powdery outside. The gummy is pretty neutral tasting. My husband thought it was lemon, but looking at the ingredients it may be apple with some citric acid mixed in giving it that flavor.

The gummy is well made and very tasty on its own. The star here however is what makes these different flavors, the flavoring in the middle. My personal favorite was the strawberry, but I had no problem eating any of them. All of them had a strong but tasty fruit liquid center of their respective flavors of lime, cherry, and strawberry. It's easy to figure out which flavor is which. I'd buy this again.

Would I buy this again?  Yes. I just wish Trader Joe's Gummy Tummies Penguins came in lunch sized packages or a resealable bag to stop me from eating these.

I'm a big fan of the gummy bears but haven't tried these yet. Will have to pick up a bag though it may be dangerous.
