An unopened Trader Joe's Honey Hydration Bath Fizzer on a pink surface.

Self-care has become almost as trendy as pumpkin spice, and Trader Joe's knows how to ride the wave with seasonal products that promise a little "treat yourself" moment. The Honey Hydration Bath Fizzer is their latest attempt at giving us spa vibes on a budget. At first glance, it looks like a golden orb of relaxation: part of the limited-run Honey Hydration collection that's been buzzing around shelves this season.

Drop one into the tub, and you'll get a sweet honey fragrance, a satisfying fizz, and the kind of skin-softening results that make you want to linger in the bath a little longer. But this isn't Lush-level theater with rainbow swirls and glittery explosions. It's simpler, subtler, and yes - a bit yellower than I bargained for (spoiler: the water's not winning any Instagram aesthetics awards).

Review

Let's talk about the elephant in the bathtub. The Honey Hydration Bath Fizzer does smell nice, it lasts a good while, and it left my skin feeling soft. All good things. But here's the problem: the water turns the exact shade that at your annual physical, your doctor would tell you to hydrate better type of yellow. Not "golden honey glow" yellow. More like "oops, someone forgot to flush" yellow.

I'm sorry, but when I'm trying to live my best self-care life, the last thing I want is bathwater that looks like a CSI crime scene sample. Trader Joe's, we love a quirky seasonal item, but nobody asked for "pee chic" as a color story.

The good news? Once you stop side-eyeing the water and focus on the scent and feel, it's actually a nice little soak. My skin was noticeably softer afterward, and the light honey fragrance lingered just enough to feel spa-like. The fizzing itself was satisfying too: not one of those sad, cheap fizzers that dissolve before you can even sit down.

The bad news? For $5, you can find a bath fizzer elsewhere that does the same thing (minus the awkward bathtub optics). And if you're a true bath fizzer aficionado, you already know they're basically just baking soda, citric acid, and oil. At that point, you could DIY it for less.

So, while I wouldn't call this a total fail, it's also not one I'd repurchase. It's the kind of product you try once, laugh about, and maybe toss into a holiday gift basket for your sister-in-law who "loves Trader Joe's" but doesn't actually read the fine print. If you are reaching for a bath fizzer at Trader Joe's, you might be better off with the Peony Bath Fizzer.

Ingredients and how to use Trader Joe's Honey Hydration Bath Fizzer.

Creative Uses

  • Gift Basket Add-On: Pair with the Honey Hydration Face Mask or Body Butter for a themed gift.
  • Stocking Stuffer: Cute, seasonal, and inexpensive enough for holiday gifting.
  • Foot Soak: If the tub water color puts you off, use it in a large basin for a spa-like foot soak.

FAQs about Trader Joe's Honey Hydration Bath Fizzer

Below is a list of frequently asked questions about this product:

Does the Honey Hydration Bath Fizzer stain the tub?

No staining, but it does leave the water tinted yellow.

Is it part of the permanent collection?

No, this, like all the Honey Hydration products, like the Duo and the Face Mask, is a limited-run product line.

How long does it last?

The fizzing lasts a few minutes, but the scent lingers longer.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's Honey Hydration Bath Fizzer is a fun seasonal extra but not a must-have. The fragrance is pleasant, and it leaves skin soft, but the yellow water and the $5 price point hold it back from greatness. Also, this does not appear to be a dupe of a higher end product unlike the other Honey Hydration products. And yes, I miss the original winter seasonal bath fizzers, they were a far better value. If you're a bath fizzer fan or love the Honey Hydration series, it's worth trying once but for everyday self-care, there are better and cheaper options out there.
