The pros:Â Trader Joe's Laceys Milk Chocolate and Macadamia Nut Cookies are sweet and crunchy cookies that will happily deal with any sweet tooth you might have.
The cons: 120 calories per cookie. Might be a bit too sweet for some.
The verdict: Â Usually when I think of cookies the following ingredients are on the list: butter, sugar and flour. Usually there is a good amount of dough and some chocolate to break up the dough. That is not the case in these cookies.
There are a few Laceys Cookie varieties available. After trying this, I wouldn't hesitate to try others. These seem like mostly toffee, some finely chopped nuts with chocolate to hold the two cookies together. Flour is used here, but not in the high proportions as most cookie recipes. The chocolate used here is milk chocolate so it is on the sweeter size. While I thought about putting a pinch of salt on these cookies, I had somehow emptied the container by repeatedly taste testing them and figuring out how to best describe these.
For $3.99 you are getting about 10 cookies. All of which were delightful and not your usual cookie. They don't look like anything special, but I couldn't stop eating them. They were crunchy from the nut bits and the toffee, but not so crunchy that you would worry about breaking a tooth. They were sweet (but if you don't like sweet they might have a dark chocolate variety available). The placement of the chocolate was key. It was the filling that kept the two sides together. But you got to enjoy the crunch before the sweetness of the chocolate.
Overall, I liked these. I just wish there were no calories in them.
