The pros: Trader Joe's Premium Peanut Butter Roundels are the shape of a York Peppermint Patty but are really like a peanut butter cup on steroids.

The cons:  These are 150 calories each.

The verdict:

Free samples get me in trouble every time I walk through the doors of Trader Joe's. A nice gentleman at my local one saw me perusing the new items. He mentioned that he tried these and thought they were amazing. He asked if I would try one. I said yes. The next difficult decision was milk or dark chocolate because this has four of each. One 150 calorie sample later and two boxes some how ended up on my cart.

Well anyways, if you like Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Cups, you are going to get hooked into these as long as you are living for the peanut butter filling. There are some people who will prefer the balance of the cups, but if you are longing for something with a more substantial peanut butter filling, then Trader Joe's has a product for you.

Trader Joe's Premium Peanut Butter Roundels are mostly peanut butter with some chocolate. Regardless of which chocolate one you reach for, you'll get a bit of both chocolates. Dark chocolate was my favorite as I enjoyed the contrast of slightly bitter dark chocolate to the sweet peanut butter filling. For the traditionalists, the milk chocolate is good too albeit sweeter tasting overall then the dark chocolate. Both shells were thin highlighting the peanut butter filling.

For $3.49 for eight candies, these are something worth picking up at least once if you are a peanut butter cup fan. If it's too much, then I can completely see chopping these up and putting them in some brownies or on top of some ice cream. Really well done overall.
