The pros: Trader Joe's Salt Water Taffy will remind you of being on the Boardwalk with this set of taffies. Taffies all had strong flavors.
The cons: On the bottom of the review is the breakdown of which color is which flavor. I hate it when they don't tell you which is which. The red licorice was not tasty and the banana strawberry is way more banana in flavor.
The verdict: For $1.99 you are getting 7 ounces of salt water taffy. Each taffy is individually wrapped in a wax paper to make sure that nothing sticks. There are five flavors here. I wish there had been a bigger variety because I came across flavors I just didn't care for.
Unfortunately, while there is space on the bag for some labeling to indicate flavors, it was not on this bag. I tried each of them and I only came across a couple of flavors I truly enjoyed. The first candy I reached for was the red and white swirl. That was a mistake. It was red licorice. I felt like it had a gnarly aftertaste to it.
Next up was the dark pink, which was cherry. It was true cherry flavor. After that was the light pink which turned out to be a very pleasant watermelon. I grabbed the white one next. It was sour apple, but wasn't overly sour. It is nothing that will make you pucker.
Lastly, was the strawberry banana which really was almost all banana flavored. For me, this was a (literal) mixed bag. I only ended up liking less than half of the flavors here.
The taffy was fine. It was nice and chewy. Should you buy it? Only if you know you really enjoy those flavors. I'll pass on repurchasing these.
The bag of Trader Joe's Salt Water Taffy:
The nutritional information:
The ingredients:
Out of the package you get five different flavors
From left to right-
Swirled- Red Licorice
White- Sour apple
Yellow and pink- Banana Strawberry
Darker pink- Cherry
Light pink- Watermelon
Would I buy this again? For me, this is a once and done. It's good taffy, but the red licorice wasn't tasty at all. The banana strawberry was way too banana. The sour apple was just ok. I think this set would have been better of with more citrus flavors which might have a wider appeal.

You are 100% right about the salt water taffy! I despise the red licorice and the banana is second worst. I love the other three especially the cherry. I’ve asked them at TJ to get rid of those two flavors. Rather than throw them out I save the noxious ones and bring them back to the store for the employees break room! They claim to like them!
Hey Lisa! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. That's the bummer with those multi flavor packs, you are bound to get flavors you don't like. Have you tried the mango one (it's summer seasonal)? That's pretty good and one flavor. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and share!
Years later... just came to say the red licorice tastes like the fluoride rinse they gave me at the dentist when I was a child. Bleh.
Hey Keri! It wasn't my favorite either. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on this!
I really like all of the flavors and the banana one is actually my favorite.
Thanks for sharing!
