What is Trader Joe's Salty Water Taffy?

Trader Joe's Salty Water Taffy is a bag of assorted taffies that come in five different flavors: Red Licorice, Cherry, Watermelon, Sour Apple, and Banana Strawberry. Each piece is individually wrapped in wax paper, making it convenient to enjoy on the go or share with friends. The taffy has a soft, chewy texture and a burst of flavor in every bite, with a hint of salt that enhances the sweetness.

Taste and Texture

The taste of Trader Joe's Salty Water Taffy is bold and distinct, with each flavor offering a unique experience. The cherry and watermelon flavors are particularly strong, delivering a true-to-fruit taste that is both refreshing and satisfying. The sour apple is tart but not overly sour, making it a balanced option. The banana strawberry leans heavily on the banana flavor, while the red licorice has a strong, somewhat polarizing taste that might not appeal to everyone.

In terms of texture, the taffy is soft and chewy, without being overly sticky. It stretches easily but doesn't stick to your teeth excessively, making it a pleasant experience to eat. The slight saltiness in the taffy enhances the overall flavor, making each piece more complex and enjoyable.

You are 100% right about the salt water taffy! I despise the red licorice and the banana is second worst. I love the other three especially the cherry. I’ve asked them at TJ to get rid of those two flavors. Rather than throw them out I save the noxious ones and bring them back to the store for the employees break room! They claim to like them!

Hey Lisa! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. That's the bummer with those multi flavor packs, you are bound to get flavors you don't like. Have you tried the mango one (it's summer seasonal)? That's pretty good and one flavor. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and share!

Years later... just came to say the red licorice tastes like the fluoride rinse they gave me at the dentist when I was a child. Bleh.
