The pros: Trader Joe's Vanilla Joe Joe's will remind you of a more familiar Keebler cookie, but with a more natural vanilla flavoring and appearance.
The cons: The flavor here might be more adult friendly than kid friendly. I brought this in to share with my students and the kids were a little bit polarized by it. They either loved it or hated it.
The verdict: For $2.99 you are getting a relatively large box of sandwich cookies with a nice vanilla filling that you can actually see the vanilla. I appreciate the nice vanilla flavor here. It seems to be one of the more natural tasting vanilla cookies I've had in a while. In fact, when I first tried these they reminded me instantly of a round Keebler's Vienna Fingers. The key difference, aside from shape, is the filling. This is a very natural tasting vanilla. I happened to have brought a box of these to school to share with my students and the reactions to the cookies surprised me. Some kids loved and adored these instantly. Some strongly hated them. I even had one student who asked if they were made with spoiled milk. I teach middle school, so they don't filter their thoughts well. In this case, they told me what I needed to know. If you are buying this for the kids, just be ready for a mixed response. You might also be better off with a chocolate type of cookie. If you are sharing with other adults, as long as they like vanilla then they will like this. I enjoyed this and I've repurchased this item.
