The pros:  Super tasty, unexpected flavor in both the rice and the curry. Trader Joe's Vegetable Panang Curry is a really well done vegan Thai dish.

The cons:  Almost 600 calories for a vegetable dish. Yikes. Quite a bit of saturated fat in a veggie dish.

The verdict:  Great selection from Trader Joe's. My only complaint is that they could have been more generous with the amount of veggies in this dish. There was a healthy bit of rice here. For $2.99 this was well worth the price for the flavor that you are getting. If you are really watching your weight save half of the rice for later.

My full thoughts follow the visual rundown of this product below:

Here is the box as its found in the freezer section:

What did I think of this?   I really enjoyed eating Trader Joe's Vegetable Panang Curry. To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to it. I'm neither vegetarian nor vegan, but I'd buy this in a heartbeat (although based on the saturated fat, it may stop that same heartbeat). The curry was delicious.

There was a subtle taste of coconut and the other flavors came right through. This is a very different curry than say Indian food. The heat was very subtle. It was a light sauce that covered the rice nicely. The rice was very nice and flavorful. I hardly noticed that there was brown rice mixed in. It had the nice floral notes that you would expect with jasmine rice.

The mixing the curry and the rice can be quite challenging, but for $2.99, I'd like to make it a weekly treat. My  only complaint against this dish was the amount of veggies. I would have like more. I'd buy this again.

This was really informative. I love that you put the nutrition label so the reader can see as well. I've seen these at Trader Joe's but haven't purchased them yet. I want to try them now! You should try Amy's Samosa burrito ?. It's very filling and tasty. It's vegan and you can find it in the frozen section at most grocery stores!

Thanks for sharing as well. I'll have to look into that. I haven't been cooking much lately, so it's been mostly easy to make stuff. Thanks for the kind words!
