The pros: O&H Danish Bakery Pecan Kringle is a seasonal offering at Trader Joe's. If you were a fan of previous flavors, then you'll probably enjoy this one too. This is perfect for either breakfast, brunch, or dessert. This is far more affordable at Trader Joe's than on the bakery's website.

The cons:  This is a seasonal offering. While mine did not come out of the bag in a photogenic way, it still tasted fine. In other words, mine was super flaky.

The verdict:  Over the winter season I got a chance to try the Almond Kringle. As a native New Yorker, this was both familiar and an unfamiliar item. A Kringle eats much like a danish or other pastry, but is sold in a unique shape and seems to be topped with a frosted topping.

This Kringle follows much of the successful aspects of the almond kringle. There is a light and flaky dough. This is priced right at $7.99. This is a bargain compared to how much they command on their website. But on their website, you'll also see reviews. Pretty much near perfect.

My kringle was very flaky and made a bit of a mess when I removed it from the bag. But believe me, it had no impact on the taste. The pastry was light and had a nice filling make of chopped pecans and brown sugar. Each bite had plenty of filling and lots of buttery tasting pastry.

This item freezes well. But somehow you are supposed to get 12 servings out of this. I personally think there are probably closer to six servings. This flavor is perfect for either breakfast or dessert. Totally worth a try, if you haven't done so already.

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy O&H Danish Bakery Pecan Kringle again. I like the all the Kringles I've tried so far.
