Honest Review of Trader Joe’s Braised Beef Roast with Demi Glace
Flavor: The flavor of this braised beef roast is exactly what you’d hope for—rich, savory, and comforting. The demi-glace sauce is the real star here, providing a deep, meaty flavor with a slight hint of red wine and herbs. The beef itself is well-seasoned, tender, and juicy, making each bite a satisfying experience. I found the sauce to be perfectly balanced, not overly salty, and rich without being too heavy.
Texture: This roast is incredibly tender, thanks to the slow-braising process. The beef practically falls apart with a fork, making it easy to serve and enjoy. The demi-glace coats the meat beautifully, adding a velvety texture to every bite. Whether you’re using the microwave or oven to heat it up, the beef retains its moisture and tenderness.
Overall: One of the best things about Trader Joe’s Braised Beef Roast is how easy it is to prepare. From fridge to table in under 10 minutes if you’re using the microwave, or about 20 minutes in the oven if you prefer a slower, more even heat. This convenience makes it perfect for a weeknight dinner or even a last-minute special occasion meal.

M says
I recently bought this roast and loved it. I added a little Worcestershire sauce which added a little sweetness and umami flavor and added a little more liquid. I got three good portions and a half. Which I cut into small pieces and reheated with some rice.
The meat is super tender, but slicing very thin across the grain makes the meat less chewy. I really loved the meat cut into small pieces mixed with the sauce on rice. To serve with mashed potatoes, I would add some beef onion gravy to the demi glace to help thicken it and add more gravy. This
recipe is similar to what I make. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/108649409736501541/ except I also add a little Worcestershire sauce.
I love making a huge pot of caramelized onions for soup, gravy, and French onion dip. I cut my onions in pieces rather than rings are because they’re easier to eat. A long strip of caramelized onion can be really slimy. Especially hanging off a potato chip (Ruffles are my favourite because they stand up to the dip and add more texture. Ina Garten’s recipe is my favourite.

Do you cook this from the freezer or have to thaw out ?
becomebetty says
Hey Deanna! This is from the refrigerated section and I havent tried freezing it. But it comes in a bag and can be reheated quickly. I hope that helps!
Selma says
I needed a pot roast for nine people, and three packages was perfect. I thin-sliced them while they were cold (much easier) and arranged them on a rectangular glass baking dish and baked them at 325 degrees for one hour. I made it ahead, so I needed to reheat it at the last minute. I boiled fingerling potatoes, roasted them with a bit of olive oil until golden, and arranged them along the sides of the beef. I reheated it for about half an hour. Everyone loved it. It's super tender and delicious with the potatoes. There's actually too much sauce, so I put it into a small pottery pitcher so guests could help themselves.

Hailey says
Ok my issue upon first glance is how TINY the piece of meat is. I need it to serve three but I think I need to go back and get a second one because it looks like one large serving not 4. With potatoes and asparagus do you guys really think this will feed 3?
becomebetty says
Well serving size and portions we choose aren't the same. A serving size of meat is about the size of a deck of cards. So you might be better off getting a 2nd package. It reheats well if necessary.
Ruth says
Why dose the package not say to heat to an internal temp of 165. This was served to me after 20 min and it was cold. I was right out of surgery a d it made me sick. 165 internal temp needs to be on the package.
