The pros: Trader Joe's Gingerbread Molasses Cookie Dough are the quickest cookies you can get short of buying them already cooked. They were done in under 15 minutes. They had that true gingersnap texture. There is a very nice spice beyond just ginger.

The cons:  The package contains 12 cookies. If you need more than that you'll need to pick up a few of these.

The verdict:  For $2.99, these were as easy as it gets. If you don't already have all the ingredients lined up to make gingerbread, then this may represent a savings as opposed to stocking up on all the various ingredients and spices that these use. Sadly, this is likely a seasonal item so if you try it and like it you'll need to stock up before they go away for the season.

Would I buy this again? Yes. I hadn't noticed these before but in all likelihood they are seasonal items. If you love them you'll need to stock up and tuck them in your freezer (for up to 6 months). They are everything you look for in a ginger cookie: spice, snap and subtle sweetness. Very tasty and each makes a nice sized cookie.

Thank you for this article with pics. I am obsessed with these Trader Joe cookies and I am sad that they are only seasonal. They are the yummiest ever. So if you know how to get them out of season please lmk. THanks again.

Hey Michele! Glad I could help with these. Unfortunately, these are going to be harder to find as they are seasonal AND a refrigerated item which means they are perishable. So, my suggestion (which doesn't help now) is to stock up on items you love (make room in your freezer) and buy extras of the items that do freeze well. I wish I could be of more help to you in helping you find these. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sadly, I was told by an employee in the store last week that these will no longer be offered by TJ's. They are not on their website at this point, and they are generally in the store at the time the boxes of seasonal cookies appear, which they have in my area. Given that Thanksgiving is so late this year, I can't help but believe that there will be none of these cookies anymore. I am beside myself!

Hoping that the employee failed to look up the right item, and I will be checking back next week. If they're not there immediately after Thanksgiving, then it will be true. I used to make ginger cookies by the hundreds at Christmas, demanded by mobs of people I had given to as gifts over the years. I just got tired of all that baking and discovered TJ's refrigerated gingerbread molasses cookies a few years ago. I added my own touch (my secret) to make them my own, and no one has ever guessed that they are not my usual homemade.

Lots of disappointed people at Christmas this year! 🙁

Yes, it is official. I called my local store this morning to order the usual two cases of these cookies that I make as Christmas gifts and for all the Christmas gatherings. Sure enough, they have been discontinued. Here's the number you can call to let your feelings be known about that:

    626-599-3827

I'm asking that they give me the recipe until they start carrying the cookies again.

I have just returned from Trader Joe’s without their amazing refrigerated Gingerbread Molasses Cookie Dough 🙁 It is terribly disappointing to me, as the recipe they use(d) tasted just like my Grandma’s (and I’m a G-Ma myself now). Her recipe has long been lost to me, and Trader Joe’s cookie dough had become my go to for warm & fuzzy Christmas memories that I have shared with my littles. I dearly hope Trader Joe’s will share their cookie recipe if they are no longer going to carry this seasonal item.

Sorry, Elizabeth! You aren't the first person to complain about this. The best thing to do is to reach out to TJ's themselves and share the feedback with them. I hope they share it too!

What can we do to get them to bring these back? They are a tradition at our house. I tried several recipes, but they we not even close.
