The pros:Â Trader Joe's Peach Salsa might not be as spicy or smoky as the label might suggest, but still makes for a good and refreshing salsa.
The cons:Â For purists, this might hit you as being a touch sweeter than some palates might like.
The verdict: Â
There is something magically about freshly made salsa. Often times the highlight of going to a good Mexican restaurant is having freshly made tortilla chips with salsa.
It's something that you can't exactly replicate from a bag or jar.
Salsa when brought to the table is super fresh tasting. When it is sold commercially, something happens and that divine freshness is lost.
In fact, it begins to take on a jarred sauce taste to it. It's most likely due to the canning process, but a tragic consequences nonetheless.
But it's jarred pasta sauce mushy, because this salsa definitely still has some good sized chunks to it.
The color alone let's you know that this still has a heavy influence of tomato flavors. But the flavor does not hide the sweetness one bit. This has that classic canned peaches sweetness to it.
Now, whether you like this is going to come down to your feelings on salsa that is sweet. I think this has potential on its own as an appetizer, but I'm also pretty sure I won't be putting this on nachos or anything where cheese is present.
Now, could you possibly use this as a dessert? Possibly. Maybe even with some cinnamon tortilla chips.
How do I think this jar could be better? It should be sold as a refrigerated item. I mean is there anything as good as fresh? They did a good job with Pico de Gallo they offer. Why not offer a fresh fruit salsa instead? Sadly, they don't.
But as a jarred item it wasn't bad. Just had some room for improvement. I think if you want a fresh tasting fruit salsa, you are better off making one yourself.
For $2.29 it's not bad, but it seemed like there was a higher ratio of tomato to peaches. Not a terrible combo, but not my favorite either.

Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's Peach Salsa was good, it did not knock it out of the park for me. If this were a fresh salsa I'd probably love it more.

I'm not too terribly fond of fruit flavored salsas with the exception of pineapple and habanero. And in general I prefer my salsa fresh like you. I will probably pass on this. The one peach item I have been wanting to try is the Peach Bellini Jam.

Hey Dag! I've had fresh peach salsa and there is just no comparison. Ok to pass on this one. The peach bellini jam is good but it is sweet. That was my favorite of the seasonal jams that I've tried. I picked up another jar to get me through the rest of this year.

I think maybe it would be excellent sauce base for chicken.

Hey Alek! That would be an interesting experiment right there. Do you think it would be good in a slow cooker or just as a sauce? Thanks so much for sharing your insights!

This sounded right up my alley but was underwhelming as a salsa. But on some high quality ice cream? Perfection.

Hey KingOfBeacon! Plain vanilla ice cream or do you recommend a different flavor to compliment what is already here? Thanks so much for adding that.
