Today I had the pleasure of going to Trader Joe's first thing in the morning. I don't know about you, but the weekends can be crazy there. I've gone close to closing time on the weekend, which sadly always seems to look as if a blizzard is about to hit us in NY.
While it's September and no blizzard is in sight, the shelves were nicely stocked when I arrived, however, some items were starting to look like there was some mild shelf clearing going on.
It's September and therefore all things pumpkin are making their way on to grocery store shelves (and various coffee establishments as well). One of the items (there were quite a few) that I grabbed was this box here.
I love pumpkin, but I like there to be some pumpkin and not overwhelming amounts of pumpkin. If you like pumpkin spice and you've tried and liked Trader Joe's Pinks and Whites then these are for you.
If you've never had the Pinks and Whites that is found most of the year, then you are in for a treat.
Those are shortbread cookies with a mildly sweet yogurt coating with a few sprinkles for crunch. These follow that same basic formula with a few notable exceptions.
The key addition here is the familiar pumpkin spice flavor. That flavor seems to be more assertive in the cookie rather than the frosting.
The shape here is different. Instead of rings, you have little pumpkins that are covered in a sweet but not very sweet coating.
There is no flavor difference between the two colors in the package. There is a good balance between the amount of frosting and cookie. Neither are too sweet and the cookie does not overuse the pumpkin spice flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, allspice, and ginger.
For $2.99 you are getting a box of tasty seasonal pumpkin shaped (and flavored) cookies. If you can't get enough of the season, then yes, this is worth a try. If you like the Pinks and Whites then this might be a nice choice to reach for.

Would I buy this again?  If I run out of Trader Joe's Petite Pumpkin Spice Cookies and they are available, then yes, I would buy these again. Fun, seasonal, and have all the good elements of the Pinks and Whites with that warm and familiar pumpkin flavor.

Product Description: Trader Joe's Petite Pumpkin Spice Cookies are Fall seasonal cookies.
Price: $2.99
Summary
Trader Joe's Petite Pumpkin Spice Cookies are a returning cookie with a subtle hint of pumpkin spice.
Pros
- Trader Joe's Petite Pumpkin Spice Cookies are a seasonal variety of Trader Joe's Pinks and Whites.
Cons
- This is a seasonal item, so when they are gone they are gone (perhaps forever, perhaps just for the season).
These look good . . . and I looked at the macarons from last September - they also look yummy! It is a very good thing I live so far away from Trader Joe's !!!
