The pros: Â Trader Joe's Uncured Turkey Bacon has very little grease to speak of, nice salty taste with a bit of smoke to it.
The cons: Â True bacon lovers will miss out on the real bacon taste.
The verdict:  For $3.49 for an 8 ounce package you are getting some of the bacon flavor and a fraction of the bacon calories. In fact when I tried Trader Joe’s Uncured Apple Smoked Bacon and Trader Joe’s Uncured Black Forrest Bacon those were almost three times the number of calories per slice. That's a huge difference especially if you are dieting.
What you are also getting here is something that is more processed than real bacon. You get the oh so wonderful sound words of "turkey thighs chopped and formed" right on the front. So in order to save calories you are getting a more processed product. So no true winning when it comes to the topic of bacon.
Nutritional details to the side you get eight strips of meat that are flavored much like bacon. You'll still know it's turkey as the texture is not the same and it won't get quite as crispy. It's a good effort at making this bacon like. You get strips that are salty with the wood smoke flavoring in addition to other spices added here.
Turkey bacon is "meatier" and less fatty. The bacon I've tried so far at Trader Joe's (except for the salmon bacon), has been pretty good and consistent. Any of it is a solid choice so depending on your priorities, this is also something good to reach for. I'd buy it again. It's worth a try if you want the taste but not the calories. As an added bonus this package is half a pound and portion controlled for you.

Would I buy this again? Â For me Trader Joe's Uncured Turkey Bacon is a yes. While I missed the true bacon taste, I didn't feel like I was missing out too much.
