Trader Joe's Truffle Dip

Trader Joe's Truffle Dip

If you're a fan of the rich, earthy flavor of truffles, then Trader Joe's Truffle Dip will probably find its way into your cart more often than not. This creamy dip, infused with the unmistakable taste of truffle, offers a luxurious upgrade to any snack table or appetizer spread. Whether you're dipping crackers, veggies, or chips, the truffle-forward flavor makes this a standout among Trader Joe's specialty dips.

At $4.99 for a 9-ounce container, Trader Joe's Truffle Dip delivers on flavor and richness without breaking the bank. It's perfect for those looking to add a gourmet touch to their next snack or party spread.

Trader Joe's Truffle Dip

Product Description

Trader Joe's Truffle Dip is a creamy, rich dip made with a blend of yogurt, cream cheese, and, of course, the distinctive flavor of truffle. The dip is smooth and spreadable, making it perfect for pairing with crackers, chips, or fresh vegetables. The truffle flavor is prominent, but it's balanced by the tangy yogurt base, which keeps it from being too overwhelming.

This dip is ideal for anyone who enjoys the luxurious, earthy taste of truffles but doesn't want to commit to an overly rich dish. It's versatile enough to use as a dip, spread, or even as a topping for more adventurous recipes.

Honest Review of Trader Joe's Truffle Dip

Flavor: The truffle flavor in this dip is bold, as expected. It has that signature earthy, slightly garlicky taste that truffle lovers crave, and it's well-balanced with the creamy base of yogurt and cream cheese. It's rich without being too heavy, and the truffle doesn't overpower the other flavors. However, if you're not a fan of truffle, this might not be the dip for you, as the truffle flavor is the main star here.

Texture: The texture of the dip is smooth, creamy, and spreadable. It's thick enough to hold up well with chips or sturdy crackers, but soft enough to spread onto a sandwich or use as a topping. The creaminess makes it indulgent, and the consistency is perfect for dipping or spreading.

Overall: This dip shines as a party appetizer or snack for truffle lovers. It pairs well with a variety of dippers, from simple chips to more elaborate cheese and charcuterie boards. You can also elevate your everyday meals by using it as a spread for sandwiches, burgers, or wraps. The flavor holds up well and doesn't become overwhelming, even after a few bites.

Trader Joe's Mini Cannoli

Trader Joe's Mini Cannoli

On the few days I can manage it, I like to occasionally visit some of the Italian bakeries near where I work off of Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Those occasions are few and far between, but are a highlight when I can get there. There are few desserts (in my mind at least) that are as enjoyable as a cannoli. At my own wedding I made it a point to have cannoli filling in my wedding cake. I got so excited when I saw these.

Trader Joe's is now full of new, seasonal, and soon to disappear items. It's the scarcity of items that I think helps to lead to all the impulse buys that occur this time of year. In fact, I've seen items disappear from one week to the next (and then never to be seen again). This however, should be a keeper all year long (it was marked HOL on my receipt which usually indicates it is going away).

Now, these aren't perfect, but they are a solid choice. I think it would be unfair to compare this to a bakery quality. It's still a frozen item. Some precautions were taken to prevent the shell from becoming soggy, like lining the shell with chocolate, they were still a bit softer than what you would get otherwise. Now, don't confuse soft with soggy. They were not soggy in any way. The shells were tasty regardless.

The filling was the highlight for me. The buffalo milk ricotta was smooth and had a nice flavor that was highlighted by vanilla and orange peel. There did not seem to be chocolate chips in the uniform shape of chocolate chips, but rather nice little shards of chocolate greeting you as you bite in these. These aren't the full sized cannolis so people who might just want a bite or two of dessert should find these just right.

For $3.99 for six, these are reasonably priced and overall well done. My only complaint is that these are seasonal and will be gone sooner than I would like. That and this time of year makes we wish for a bigger freezer to store these goodies.

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy a few more boxes of Trader Joe's Mini Cannoli before they are gone for the season. They were good as an individual dessert or can be defrosted quickly in the event of company.

These are the items listed in the flyer that I have tried and reviewed (or have tried and it’s in a draft folder of this blog waiting to be published).  Happy shopping!  There are some real gems in this month, see the bottom for my top 5 (although I could make a top 20 this month).  There is lots of room for impulse shopping here.  So here are my Fearless Flyer 2017 Holiday Guide Matchups:...

Trader Joe's Yellow Jackfruit Curry with Jasmine Rice

The pros: Trader Joe's Yellow Jackfruit Curry with Jasmine Rice is the newest addition to the frozen foods aisle. Unlike so many of my recent posts, this item might not be seasonal.

The cons:  You'll need to like yellow curry to appreciate this dish. Coconut milk drives up the saturated fat in this dish.
