The pros: Trader Joe's Buffalo Milk Butter has less cholesterol than regular butter. It tastes pretty much like regular butter. Trader Joe's Buffalo Milk Butter is made from grass fed buffaloes in India.
The cons:Â While on the cholesterol front it's healthier, it is just as caloric as regular butter. You won't notice the pink Himalayan salt. Doesn't melt as quickly as regular butter. Doesn't spread as well as regular butter either.
The verdict:  For $2.99 for 8 ounces or almost $6 per pound, this is almost twice as expensive per pound as regular butter. While the health benefits are listed clearly that this has less cholesterol, you'll have to read over the nutritional information to realize you aren't saving any calories either. It also has a lot of trendy buzz worthy words attached to the product as well. It mentions grass fed and pink Himalayan Salt (which tastes just like salt).
Trader Joe's Buffalo Milk Butter packaging reminds us to store this in the refrigerator which means it doesn't spread on a toasted bagel terribly well. It is also slower at melting. And when I bit into my bagel, it tasted like butter that cost me twice as much. Unless you have a health condition where you are watching your cholesterol, I feel this product has a bit too much upselling.
Trader Joe's Buffalo Milk Butter has lots of buzzwords, but not much of a spectacular product. After eating my very colorful bagel (you'll see pictures below), I just did not feel it was special or radically different to command almost double the price of regular butter. Sorry, I won't be repurchasing this.

Would I buy this again? For me, this is a no. Unless there are health reasons, I don't see a need for the premium price on this product. But if you are looking for a premium butter product and haven't tried it already, check out Trader Joe's Salted Cultured Butter which is French and so very good.

I actually love the Buffalo butter. It does not taste like regular butter. It really has no taste and was less creasy than cow butter. In my research I found the following:
Due to the properties it can be preserved longer, it is richer in calcium and a good source of minerals.

I don't know about Trader Joe's water buffalo butter but I've bought mine from an Indian (as in India) deli and it's heavenly rich tasting. Not at all like cow milk butter. It's worth the Xtra $ for flavor.
