The pros:  Trader Joe's Tarte d'Alsace with Ham, Onions, and Gruyere will remind you of a croque monsieur with a pie crust instead of toasted bread. If you are saying "what the hell is croque monsieur?" It's a ham and cheese sandwich. The caramelized onions were a nice touch. It might also remind you of a Hawaiian pizza minus the pineapple.

The cons:  I wished there were no calories in this. Sorry, hard to come up with one. I really enjoyed this.

The verdict:  I've tried three different flavors of the tarts in the freezer section. I enjoyed this Tarte d'Alsace more than the Trader Joe's Tarte au Brie etaux Tomatoes and Trader Joe's Harvest Gorgonzola Tarte. The Trader Joe's Tarte aux Champignons Review was a close second it just depends if you would like the flavor of onions, ham and cheese as in this tart as opposed to mushrooms and cheese. None of them were bad, but my husband and I enjoyed this one the most. They are all worth a try. This one will set you back $4.49.

What came out of the toaster oven in about 10 minutes:Trader Joe's Tarte d'Alsace with Ham, Onions, and Gruyere

I would absolutely buy this again. It was a nice break from a true pizza. The tart crust was lovely straight out of the toaster oven. If you enjoy a good ham and cheese but want a break from all the bread, this is a great choice.

This Tarte d'Alsace is true GARBAGE!!!
Not even remotely close to the real deal ... very disappointing for someone born and raised in Alsace...

Hey Patrick! I have never been to Alsace or had a tarte from France. What did was wrong with it as someone who clearly knows the real deal?

We love this tart to pieces. Been buying it for a couple years. Only one issue. It’s much smaller that when it was first introduced at Trader Joe’s. Definitely not happy with the reduced size. We, as consumers, are constantly being short-changed; i.e., less product, same or increased price! Please bring back your original tart at the same size. Thank you!

I love it too! But I'm from New Orleans so when food items claim to be "Cajun" or New Orleans inspired they do NOT meet expectations so I get it if you are from that region. But not knowing the expectations this
    the BOMB!!

I love the onion\ham one; like the mushroom variety; the brie/tomato one is just okay. Still I do buy when there- love the crspy crust - last 4 minutes on rack without pan.

Same here. I am so disappointed. Have loved this Tarte for years. Couldn’t get it to span normal oven grates like usual as to not spill down oven. Pulled it out to see it is 3/4 of the size it used to be. Huge selling product. Please fix it.
