The pros:Â O and H Danish Bakery Raspberry Kringle is the newest flavor to hit the shelves at Trader Joe's, but represents a substantial savings over ordering it online.
The cons: The kringle flavors at Trader Joe's are only seasonal, but fortunately, all the flavors I've tried so far have frozen very well.
The verdict: Â Oh Kringle. How I adore thee. If you haven't had a chance to try a Kringle, then you might want to drop one of these in your shopping cart.
If you aren't willing to take my word for it, then consider this has a 4.9/5 rating on its website. And yes, over a thousand people have reviewed these. But, if you are frugal you may still want to get it at Trader Joe's as most kringles on the website are priced at $20+.
I picked mine up and it still felt a bit chilled as if it were placed on shelves just an hour or so before. By the time I got it home, it was glorious.
Kringles, for those who have never enjoyed one are a flaky circular pastry with frosting and a filling. It's like a thinner and more sharable danish pastry. Rather than a dollop of the filling on top, this filling is located in a the center.
Now, Trader Joe's has carried a number of Kringle flavors this year: almond and most recently pecan. I have not encountered a bad kringle yet. This was raspberry flavored in the middle. The berry filling was generous. It's far more sweet than tart. The icing adds a nice textural element in addition to the flaky layers.
I had mine straight from the bag with a cup of coffee. I completely forgot to heat mine up. Regardless, it was delicious and did not last long. The directions don't mention it, but 10 seconds in the microwave will heat this to a nice warm temperature.
For $7.99 this is another excellent flavor and a great savings. Obviously, if you are near this bakery you are winning. If you live far, far way from the bakery, then yes, the ones on Trader Joe's shelves are very fresh.

Of the other flavors they have offered which one is your favorite? LOL....and did you enter online for a chance to win a free Kringle?

I've only tried 3 flavors. I think it was this or the almond. The pecam reminded me of a cinnamon roll. And no I haven't entered. Have you?
Dag says
LOL...no I haven't entered but I thought you might due to your Kringle love. I did check out the offerings on the O & H site. Holy cow.....so many yummy things to include some other really yummy Kringle flavors....like Turtle Pecan. I hope that TJs contracts to carry other flavors. I would love to bring this into work.

What is the TJ Price? I bought the seasonal Fall flavor months ago but forgot. Isn't it like $7?

Hey John! I paid $7.99 here in NY at my local Trader Joe's. I'm not sure if there is any regional price difference. Hope that helps!
