The pros: Trader Joe's and the Astounding Multi Flavor Joe Joe's is a large package of chocolate covered cookies which are all well done and might be a crowd pleaser.

The cons:  Some of these are sold separately. Some are not. This is seasonal, so if you love it, you'll want to pick up an extra.

The verdict:  Tis the season for putting on those few extra pounds through a few extra snacks here and there. Last winter time I reviewed some of my favorite dessert items such as Brandy Beans, Chocolate Liqueur Cherries, Candy Cane Joe Joe's, and Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe's. All of those are delicious and have no shortage of calories. Enter Trader Joe's and the Astounding Multiflavor Joe Joe's and you are full of delicious calorie laden treats. These are packaged in one of the most colorful boxes that I've seen in quite sometime. Perhaps the inspiration for this packaging is a play on the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Or at least the name of it might be.

Packaging decisions aside, this box gives you four different flavors of cookies. There is one variety that is sold on its own: the Chocolate Peppermint Joe Joe's (or at least was sold last year all by itself). That was a good cookie. It was dark chocolate with lots of peppermint flavor and texture. There are three other varieties that are only found in this packaging: peanut butter, ginger, and double chocolate.

Now before I talk about the differences, all of these are Trader Joe's Joe Joe's covered in chocolate. After that the differences are pretty vast between them all in terms of flavor. The peanut butter reminded me of Trader Joe's Roundels except they had a cookie crunch to them. It was coated in a milk chocolate and drizzled with a dark chocolate. The chocolate was kind of nondescript. It was neither amazing, but did not tasty like waxy cheap chocolate either. The dark chocolate drizzle was there but did not add much in the way of bitterness.

The ginger cookie stood out the most visually. It is the only one in white chocolate. But the white chocolate is very muted compare to the flavor of sweet ginger here.

The double chocolate is almost like a death by chocolate cake but in cookie form. There is dark chocolate coating which wasn't very bitter. In other words, if you are a fan of Trader Joe's 85% cocoa bar, you might not like the sweetness here. The filling adds an almost Oreo like chocolate filling to top off a very, very chocolatey cookie.

For $6.99 you are getting a total of 24 cookies or 6 of each variety. While that might not sound like a lot, be warned a serving is just one cookie. A really nice variety overall. Great to share with others.

Here is the visual run down of what you get if you buy this product:

Would I buy this again?  While Trader Joe's and the Astounding Multi Flavor Joe Joe's are only around for the season, I think this is best kept to a very hungry household or shared with those around you.
