There are some sections at Trader Joe's where they can do no right: sushi would be an example. It's so wrong, it has no chance of being right. There are other sections of the store where they can do no wrong. That section is the Indian selection, where they have now added Trader Joe's Fiery Chicken Curry.
Taste and review
Now, you might be saying to yourself, "What makes this different from the Chicken Tikka Masala?"
So in case you actually did say that to yourself, let's go through some of the key differences. First, there is the rice included with the dish. This has brightly-hued yellow rice from Turmeric a spice we are seeing in more products on shelves.
Next, there is the heat level. If the name did not give it away this is medium to medium-hot. I've eaten two of these so far. I could swear the second package was hotter than the first. It was enough to slow me down and mildly clear my sinuses. If you are familiar with their Lamb Vindaloo, it should give you a good sense of where the heat lands.
Third, this is Goan-inspired. So, there is a subtle element of sourness to this dish. A quick read through the ingredients puts vinegar pretty far up the list.
If the added elements of heat and sourness are ok with you, then this is completely in line with the quality of the rest of the frozen Indian entrees available at Trader Joe's. The chicken was tender, the sauce was well spiced and flavorful.
Overall
These are still the best-frozen meals out there that pack the most flavor for the money.
Now, given the option of all the Indian entrees, I'd still reach for the Vegan Tikka or Fish Korma first, but there really aren't major complaints here either.
For $3.49 this is another solid option in the frozen section.
Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Fiery Chicken Curry again.

Their Indian food is on point! But they need to bottle the sauces exactly same as frozen food so we can play around with it or even to sop up with bread. Also this can be good for stuffy noses to clear up.

Hey Alek! I wish they bottled the sauces. We can only wish. Thanks as always for taking the time to stop by and share!

Hey Dag! I'd always love to hear your thoughts when you get a chance to try it. I think you might want some naan or paratha to go with it too. All good choices. Thanks as always for stopping by and sharing!

I've followed your site for quite a while but more recently the plethora of ads on it make it very difficult. I hope you do well from it but thought you ought to know what the present experience is like. I will persevere.Best wishes

Brenda - I really like this"Fiery Chicken Curry" although it wasn't so fiery to me. It was a nice change up to the richer tikka & butter chicken varities. I liked the slight vinegar tang to it. LOL- I thought about marrying a chicken tikka entree w/this! Again, TJs does so well with this type of frozen entree. And I am up for anyone that wants to start a petition to have TJs bottle the tikka masala sauce from the frozen entrees. I would buy gallons!

Hey Dag! Now that is a combo! I'd totally try it if I could not eat the whole thing. And yes, the tikka masala sauce is where it's at. The simmer sauce just doesn't cut it. And yes, I would buy gallons of that too. Thanks again for checking in to tell me how you like it.

I tried it this evening and I am bowled over. I’ve eaten their Butter Chicken, but it’s not really hot enough.
This was about the best frozen prepared meal I’ve ever had.
I ate it with garlic na’an, also from Trader Joe’s, and Patak’s Lime Pickle, all at about a tenth of the price of a similar dish in Camden Town or Tottenham.
If I had one knock, I would say it could use more meat, as the one I had left me a bit hungry. Plan ahead and add some of your own pre-cooked white meat . . .
