I'm not always the best about packing my lunch. It's good to have certain meals available in the freezer at work. This is another selection from the Indian food in the Trader Joe's Lamb Vindaloo. My full thoughts follow the pictures below.
So here is the quick visual rundown before I share my thoughts on this:
The box in the freezer aisle:
Here is the calorie count for those of you counting:
The ingredient list and the simple directions: Poke holes in the meat side. Microwave for three minutes. Maybe a minute more if you microwave is not overly powerful.
After coming out of the microwave it looked like this:
For those of you wondering about the heat level, it's like medium hot. Not mild, medium. The Butter Chicken was mild. Trader Joe's Lamb Vindaloo is without a doubt warmer. It also has a different spice blend in the curry sauce.
What I liked about it was it had nice chunks of lamb. The rice actually had cilantro in it. It was not watery. Would I buy it again? Yes. Was it my favorite? I still like the Tikka Masala varieties from Trader Joes better, but as a break from chicken and cheese it was good.
It was filling for a small package. If you are looking for a flavorful kick for lunch or dinner and don't want to spend $10+ for Indian, this is a good alternative. This one set me back $3.99, more than a Lean Cuisine on sale, but way better on every level. And NO, you are not getting lamb any where in most freezer product lines.
Whether you love Indian food or you've been too intimidated to order Indian, this is absolutely worth a try at an affordable price.
