Trader Joe's August 2018 Fearless Flyer Matchups

Welcome to the Trader Joe's August 2018 Fearless Flyer Matchups! I've pulled together reviews from this blog and others around the web to give you (more) complete information in a single place.

The full flyer is always located on Trader Joe's website, but they don't archive them. So, at the bottom of this post there are links to my past matchups if you are curious what might be in store for the coming months or just to see what they've offered in the past.

It's too early for pumpkin, but the next Flyer should show up around September 24th. After that there will be two more in November in time for the holiday season before we get into 2019.

Anything with an image next to it is a review from this blog. Anything with just a link, is from another reviewer's site. I hope you find this helpful in your shopping. If there is anything you'd like to see me review, leave me a comment....

Trader Joe's Miso Ramen Soup

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Miso Ramen Soup on a green background

Since I started shopping at Trader Joe's back in 2016, I always wondered: why don't they have any ramen. If they are inexpensive, then that is the hallmark of inexpensive foods. And in fact, even though my husband and I are both grown adults and not of college age, we still keep ramen around. However, we tended to get our ramen from our local grocery store, H-Mart.

TRADER JOE'S MISO RAMEN SOUP

I mean you can get 4 packs of noodles at the grocery store for about $1. I can't really think of anything else you can eat that cheaply. Granted, it doesn't win any awards for nutrition, but at least your stomach will feel full.

Tasting and review

Now, this isn't the cheap plastic-wrapped package of ramen. This has its own bowl for you to fill with water.

This particular item is labeled as being vegan even though it is cut off in the picture.

In terms of taste, it tasted like miso soup. And though miso isn't always vegan, it was close enough to the familiar taste where I did not feel like anything was missing.

Like so many noodles in a cup items, this does have a decent amount of sodium to it. But it didn't taste overwhelmingly salty.

The noodles cooked up in the appropriate amount of time. And once cooked, they were filling. You could bulk up this bowl a bit further by adding protein to your meal like tofu or chicken. It would even benefit from some additional fresh greens.

There were even bits of seaweed and green onions in some bites, but not too many.

Overall

It's a pretty good cup of noodles. It has the familiar taste of miso. It's vegan and doesn't make you feel like you are missing anything. It was filling. It was inexpensive at $1.29.

If you need a good grab-and-go lunch it wasn't a bad one to reach for at all. I'd bring my own protein to make it a more substantial meal, but otherwise, it seems well done.

Now, just a side note. I purchased two of these. As I'm typing this, it is the second one I've had. The first one was photographed. My second bowl of noodles did not have the oil packet.

Not a huge deal, but something to keep an eye out for. Did I miss it? Not really.

However, if you aren't near Trader Joe's, you can also find this on Amazon through third-party sellers.

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Miso Ramen Soup again. It was filling, tasty, and had a reasonable amount of taste (and sodium) for a bowl of prepackaged ramen soup.

Trader Joe's Rich Hydrating Face Sheet Mask

Trader Joe's Rich Hydrating Face Sheet Mask

After reviewing two dessert items, I need a caloric break. So on to the health and beauty aid aisle.

I don't know if Trader Joe's is taking inspiration from fashion. You know how the bathing suits appear in February? And how the supply of winter coats is usually dwindling just as winter is kicking in? Same here, it seems the products are a bit out of sync with the weather outside.

Except for this one.

I know wearing one of these goofy masks is all the rage right now in beauty. With spa prices what they are it is easy to understand why. Twenty minutes of relaxing is what this needs. If you can't just sit and relax, it did a good job of staying on my face without any help.

Now for starters, my skin is sensitive and dry. Even in this weather. Speaking of this weather, where I am has been very hot. Worse still is that we are never having a dry heat. Nope, visit NYC in July or August and you'll be slapped with as much humidity as parts of the tropics.

Which is also why I really liked this product. This mask was supercooling. It was slightly tingly. But more importantly, it was like a blast of air conditioning on my face. For the whole twenty minutes. Seriously.

The mask fit decently enough for something that looked like it belonged on a mime. Or the love child of Freddy Krueger and Jason. But looking bad for 20 minutes is totally worth it. No perfect fit, but for sitting on the couch, it was good enough.

There is a smell to this, it's cucumber all the way. So if you are sensitive, it isn't neutral in smell. Otherwise, most of the masks moisture absorbed nicely into my skin.

Now, I paused to write this review. I have sensitive skin. So sometimes, usually the next morning, my skin gives a verdict. Often times with skin products, I'm rewarded with a breakout. Not this time. My skin felt even better after an overnight rest.

No breakouts.

For $1.99 it's affordable and worth a try. I liked it. It did everything it was asked to do.

If you can't find this at your local Trader Joe's, you'll be able to find it on Amazon through third-party sellers.

That little face is pretty much what this mask cut out will look like.

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Rich Hydrating Face Sheet Mask again. It was inexpensive and did what was asked.

Trader Joe's Seltzer Water with Lemon and Ginger Juice

Trader Joe's Seltzer Water flavored with Lemon and Ginger Juice package

The pros: Trader Joe's Seltzer Water flavored with Lemon and Ginger Juice is one of two new seltzer flavors and if you love ginger then you might dig this.

The cons: This is very assertively gingery for something that only contains 2% juice.
