Trader Joe's Organic Superfood Pilaf

Trader Joes Organic Superfood Pilaf

The pros:  Trader Joe's Organic Superfood Pilaf is a bag of colorful and healthy superfood. A whole lot of vitamin A in one serving. Lots of superfoods in one bag. Ready in about 10 minutes on the stove or even less in the microwave.

The cons:  Came out as one giant block which made it difficult to prepare. Was very plain tasting.

The verdict:  ...

Trader Joe's Canadian White Bread

Trader Joe's Canadian White Bread

The pros:  Makes for a fantastic grilled cheese, seems more like real bread, very different from something like Wonderbread. Good taste for a white bread and good texture. Will keep on your countertop for about a week. Freezes well if you don't need it right away. It's Kosher, it's made in the USA even though it's called "Canadian."

The cons:  No preservatives so don't expect a nuclear shelf life.

Trader Joe's Beef Filet Mignon

Trader Joe's Beef Filet Mignon Steak

The pros:  Super tasty steak, tender as could be. I prefer Trader Joe's Beef Filet Mignon over Trader Joe's Steakhouse Seasoned Beef Filet Mignon as that was very peppery (but tasty and tender too). Here you have total control over the seasoning and spice level. If you are only a beginning cook then yes, the Steakhouse Seasoned Beef Filet Mignon is a good choice because the directions are crystal clear and most of the work is done for you.

The cons:  Should have more of a guide on how to prepare this and what temperature gives you the different levels of doneness. Expensive per pound, but what filet mignon isn't?

The verdict:  ...

What is Trader Joe's Chicken Shu Mai?

Trader Joe's Chicken Shu Mai consists of pre-cooked dumplings filled with a blend of chicken, vegetables, and seasonings, all wrapped in a delicate wonton wrapper. These dumplings are sold in the frozen section, and each package contains about 18 shu mai along with a soy sauce packet for dipping. Priced at around $3.49, they're an affordable way to satisfy your dumpling cravings.

Taste and Texture

The taste of Trader Joe's Chicken Shu Mai is mild and savory, with the soy sauce providing a necessary boost of flavor. The filling is tender and well-seasoned, though some might find it a bit on the bland side without the dipping sauce. The wonton wrapper is soft when steamed, but if microwaved, the texture can become slightly rubbery. Cooking them in an air fryer can add a bit of crispiness, but be careful to avoid overcooking, which can lead to a tough outer layer.

Trader Joe's Oaxacan Inspired Chicken Thighs in Mole Sauce

Trader Joes Oaxacan Inspired Chicken Thighs in Mole Sauce

The pros:  Right off of the grill pan Trader Joe's Oaxacan Inspired Chicken Thighs in Mole Sauce made very tender chicken. Even served cold on it was still very tender. Made in the USA.

The cons:  The mole marinade was just ok and was difficult to visually tell if it was cooked through. A meat thermometer is recommended.
