The pros: Trader Joe's Carrot Ginger Miso Salad Dressing is very similar to the dressing that I've had in most Japanese restaurants. This dressing is also vegan.

The cons: This is more perishable than regular dressing.

The verdict:  It's a running joke between my best friend that we put/paid for the extension on our favorite Japanese restaurant. In fact we have been going there since middle school. So it might be at least somewhat possible that we did substantially contribute to the expansion of our local hangout.

After we started hanging out Takara Sushi, we wanted to learn more about sushi. We took a class together at Sur La Table. We learned two important things together in that class. First, we learned how to make sushi. Second, we learned we were better off ordering sushi.

Our local sushi place always gives us salad with this unique carrot dressing. While the Trader Joe's dressing of this review is not quite as good as our local hangout, it isn't bad either. But...if you don't like the flavor of the dressing that is served in many Japanese restaurants, then you probably won't like this dressing.

There are no weird ingredients in this. This dressing is vegan. It is refrigerated and will separate if you keep it too long. This dressing is not smooth either. I'm not sure you can get a carrot dressing completely smooth. You get all the flavors listed in this from carrot to miso to ginger. For a store bought dressing it is pretty good.

For $3.69 it isn't cheap. Now, I thought it was good. But for me, I'm not sure when I would use this. I like this flavor the most with Japanese food. But if I order Japanese, they give me the salad with a similar dressing. It was good to try. If you enjoy the flavors of the salad that is most commonly served in your local sushi place, it's worth a try.

Would I buy this again? While the flavor of Trader Joe's Carrot Ginger Miso Salad Dressing was fine, I prefer this flavor profile with having Japanese food. More often than not, we go out

Sounds like it would be tasty as a marinade for salmon/fish or chicken or even pork. Or skipping the marinade and just cooking with one of those proteins.

Hey Nikki! It would probably work there too. It would absolutely lend an Asian flare to those proteins as well. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for taking the time to stop by and share.

I don't think I have ever had this dressing before. What are the dominant flavor(s)? Carrot? Ginger?

Yes, carrot and ginger. This still has some of the texture of carrot too.

Love it. I live far from a Trafer Joe’s so am going to follow the online recipe and make it myself.
