Ah, Autumn. The crispness in the air. The seasonal products hitting shelves. If pumpkin just isn't your jam, that is ok. Because there are other seasonal flavors like maple or in this case apple thanks to the annual appearance of Trader Joe's Rustic Apple Tarte.
For $4.99 you are getting a tarte where the serving size is pretty much on point. You can realistically expect to get four nice sized portions from this pie. This shares many of the same elements are Trader Joe's Apple Blossoms which are found pretty much year round at the moment with some key differences.
Obviously, the apple blossoms are meant to be more of an individual serving where this is probably meant to be shared (or you can enjoy it all on your own). There is cream cheese in this, but it did not stand out in anyway.
The addition of the almond slivers is key here. They add a really nice texture and a bit of crunch. They also added crunch in the way of a sugary glaze.
Otherwise, what you are getting here is the familiar slightly sweet crust that will remind you less of a pie crust and more of a big but only slightly sweet cookie. It's folded over in a way to show off the filling (more of a galette than a tart, but those are just my thoughts).
The apples still have some good texture. It's a good ratio of apples to tart too. But because you have so much more room for filling the almonds add just the right amount of crunch.
This got a thumbs up from my husband and I. It's completely worth a try and is quite delicious. And if you are wondering, it is 370 calories per serving level of good.
Ours lasted about a day in our household. Keep in mind this is seasonal, so if you discover that you like it, you might want to pick up a few. You never know when, or if, this will disappear from shelves for the season or for good.
Would I buy this again? Yes, I would absolutely buy Trader Joe's Rustic Apple Tarte again. While not something I would make on a regular basis, it is a great thing to have in case of company or in case you feel like a small apple pie. Just as good as Trader Joe's Apple Blossoms, just on a larger scale with some added crunch.

Price: $4.99
Summary
Trader Joe's Rustic Apple Tarte is a seasonal larger version of the apple blossoms.
Pros
- Trader Joe's Rustic Apple Tarte is sweet, but not too sweet, has lots of texture, is delicious, and basically a larger more nutty variety of Trader Joe's Apple Blossoms.
Cons
- This is a seasonal product, grab it while it lasts.
- On a happy note this product has been making seasonal appearances for a couple of years now, but at Trader Joe's that doesn't seem to mean much.
