Trader Joe's 100% Organic Argan Oil Review: Budget Beauty in a Bottle

An unopened box of Trader Joe's 100% Organic Argan Oil

Argan oil has earned its place in the skincare and haircare world as a go-to for hydration, shine, and all-around nourishment, but it usually comes at a premium. That's where Trader Joe's 100% Organic Argan Oil comes in. Priced at $6.99, this little bottle promises the same multi-tasking magic at a fraction of the cost of its name-brand counterparts.

Review

Let's start with what's inside: just one ingredient, organic argan oil. That's it. No fillers, no added fragrance, no questionable extras. And that's exactly what I want in a product like this.

The packaging is a small amber glass bottle with a pump dispenser, which is surprisingly convenient. It dispenses just the right amount without waste, and the dark glass helps protect the oil from light degradation-especially important if you're keeping it in your bathroom.

I've used this oil on my face, hair, cuticles, and even dry patches on my elbows. It's lightweight, absorbs quickly, and doesn't leave a greasy finish if you use it sparingly. On my face, it gives a dewy look without clogging pores. For hair, I've used it both as a pre-shampoo treatment and a mid-length finisher to tame frizz and add shine.

What I love most is how versatile and clean it is. You're getting the same type of product you'd pay three or four times more for at a beauty retailer-but with the classic Trader Joe's value spin.

It's not scented, which makes it great for those with sensitive skin or noses. And while it's not packaged like a luxury item, it works like one. A few drops go a long way, so even though the bottle is small, it lasts.

Frequently asked questions

The following are commonly asked questions about this product

Is Trader Joe's Argan Oil any good?

Yes, it is. I found it to be pretty comparable to a higher-priced brand.

Where can I buy this?

This is available at Trader Joe's year round. This is available at Trader Joe's but can also be found through third-party sellers on Amazon.

How long does one bottle last?

A little goes a long way. With regular use, one bottle can last several months.

Does it smell like anything?

It has a faint, nutty scent typical of pure argan oil, but it's very mild and fades quickly.

Non Food Items, Organic, Trader Joe's Trader Joes, Trader Joes Review

Trader Joe's All in One Facial Cleanser

An unopened bottle of Trader Joe's All In One Facial Cleanser

I've made it a point this year to dive deeper into some of the most nondescript packaged beauty items that I've ever tried in my life. As a Sephora junkie (yes, I'm Rouge level bad) I own a shameful number of beauty products that have taken over the bathroom vanity and several drawers in that vanity as well.

An unopened bottle of Trader Joe's All In One Facial Cleanser

Testing this out

And with certain monthly beauty subscriptions, I don't even need to go to the store. They send me things I didn't even know that I wanted. They've really got this marketing thing figured out.

But at Trader Joe's the closest thing we have to anything similar was the 12 Days of Beauty that disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared this past holiday season.

And what I learned is despite the packaging which makes these products blend into their environment in a grocery store, there are some real standouts that if you don't know are there...then you are missing out.

Trader Joe's knocked it out of the park for me recently with the addition of their Cleansing Body Oil and their Microdermabrasion Scrub it had me diving deeper into the aisle to figure out what I was missing.

So I came home with Trader Joe's All In One Facial Cleanser which is priced at $5.99.

Considering how much I spend on a good makeup remover, I consider this to be some possible cost-cutting measures.

But inside this pump bottle is a generous amount of cleanser which had a mild aroma that was reminiscent of blue Dawn. Nothing strong, but that is the closest analogy I can come up with.

Now, as for the promises on the bottle of it being a cleanser, exfoliant, tearless, and antioxidant-rich, let me take that list apart.

It does a great job of cleansing. It wasn't drying, but it wasn't moisturizing either. I was still reaching for a moisturizer after using this, but my skin did not feel stripped or parched either.

It didn't seem to be exfoliating, but then again I highly recommend the Microdermabrasion Scrub for that.

Yes, this seems like Tearless and Johnson and Johnson's Baby Shampoo. There was no eye burning as I washed this off of my face.

And as for the antioxidant-rich, I guess it is looking at the ingredients.

So overall, this is one product I'll be repurchasing when the bottle goes empty. And speaking of the bottle, I do love the pump design rather than having it come out of a tube.

Overall

It handled makeup removal really well. And more importantly, I was able to handle the occasional removal of mascara that sometimes runs down your face after using an eye makeup remover.

Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's All In One Facial Cleanser is a yes for me. One less overpriced product will be out of my cart at Sephora. However, if you aren't near a Trader Joe's it is available through third-party sellers on Amazon.

Trader Joe's Roasted Vegetable Multi-Grain Lasagna

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Roasted Vegetable Multi-Grain Lasagna

When I think of lasagna, I think of Sunday dinner. I think of thick dreamy layers of deliciousness interrupted by a single layer of pasta between the dreaminess. To this point, Trader Joe's has not knocked it out of the park with their lasagna offerings.

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Roasted Vegetable Multi-Grain Lasagna

Taste

And their Roasted Vegetable Multi-Grain Lasagna didn't knock it out of the park for me either.

Now, I've never found any frozen lasagna that can even remotely compete with Nonna's lasagna. You'll have to go in deep into a solid Italian grocer for one of those.

However, if you are shopping at Trader Joe's you have options, but none of them are that great. The refrigerated lasagna had the single strangest meat texture I've ever encountered. It reminded me of how finely processed Taco Bell's meat is but with an extra bit of rubberiness that really should never be experienced.

And then the other option I've tried is the frozen lasagna. It too makes for a mediocre meal.

And then there was the seasonal and now discontinued Shrimp Scampi Lasagna which had some potential to be a delicious dish but was just strange in execution.

Now, rounding out the last of the lasagna options is Trader Joe's Roasted Vegetable Multi-Grain Lasagna. However, it seems I saved the worst for last.

For the most part, this looks exactly the way it is pictured on the box. However, it is still deeply flawed.

This lasagna is more pasta than filling. Never a good sign in my book.

And as for the veggies, it seemed that every imaginable variety that was leftover got dumped into this dish. I had everything from broccoli to cauliflower to peppers to carrots and zucchini. None of which are bad on their own.

But randomly dumping them between sheets of pasta is a bit of an injustice to both lasagna and the veggies themselves. You can make really flavorful layers with veggies, but that just wasn't the case here.

But this ended up tasting like some cafeteria lady's veggie lasagna surprise.

And despite me following the "preferred method" of cooking aka the microwave even the pasta was lackluster and total mush.

Overall

For $5.99, please do yourself a favor. Make your own. It will cost just about as much as this did but will be exponentially better in quality.

Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's Roasted Vegetable Multi-Grain Lasagna is a big no from me. With a jar of sauce, no-boil noodles, and some creativity for the middle layers, you'll get the same result for about the same price.

Trader Joe's Everything but the Elote Seasoning Blend

An unopened bottle of Trader Joe's Everything but the Elote Seasoning Blend

Since the release of Trader Joe's Everything but the Bagel seasoning, there really isn't much that I go through by the bottle regularly. Until now. While it was just recently released, this little jar packs a punch in the flavor department.

An unopened jar of Trader Joe's Everything but the Elote Seasoning Blend

Taste

Now, Trader Joe's has played around with the elote flavor in certain products like the frozen Mexican style roasted corn and with the Elote Corn Dippers (my husband ate every bag before I was ever able to photograph it which is why that review isn't done) which are nothing short of addicting.

But Trader Joe's has finally listened and bottled their best flavors (except in the Indian section, which they seem to be keeping to themselves).

Before I tell you all the things I love about this, we have to talk about one thing that caught me off guard: the first ingredient sugar.

Despite the marketing on the front and the nutritional facts (and the teeny tiny serving size), it would appear like it has no carbs to it. But I found myself getting quite heavy-handed with seasoning this on a batch of popcorn.

The more I added the more I loved it. But that being said, it might lead you to believe that it is keto-friendly or sugar-free when in fact it isn't. Most likely due to its minuscule portion size.

So other than the sweetness it lends to whatever you put it on, then what you have here is super flavorful.

It is sweet, savory, and cheesy, with a touch of acidity. It reminded me slightly of the Chile Lime Seasoning Blend but was far more complex. It had a touch of cumin with the umami of parmesan cheese.

Pairing suggestions

Pair well with Trader Joe's Everything but the Elote Seasoning Blend? Anything corn, avocado, tomato, a starch like rice or potatoes, tomatoes, cheese, and pretty much your imagination can dream up. Even adding this to butter or mayo would be delicious.

Overall

This is a totally solid seasoning blend well priced at $2.49. But for my vegan friends out there it, this isn't vegan-friendly.

Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's Everything but the Elote Seasoning Blend is going into my regular purchases. It's very good and it seems like it can go on just about everything. A new favorite in my household.

If you can't get to a Trader Joe's, then you can also find this through third-party sellers on Amazon.
