Trader Joe's Egg Bites Review: Get Egg-cited

Two Trader Joe's Egg Bites varieties on a grey surface.

You know the morning struggle: alarm goes off, coffee isn't made, and somehow your keys have gone into witness protection. Enter Trader Joe's Egg Bites. These little guys promise fluffy, cheesy goodness in 60 seconds flat. They claim to be the breakfast solution for people who need something warm and filling but don't have time to mess with pans or dishes. So… do they actually deliver, or are they just overpriced microwave muffins?

Two Trader Joe's Egg Bites varieties on a grey surface.
[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Product Overview

Trader Joe's Egg Bites come in two varieties:

  • Cheddar Cheese & Uncured Bacon - Made with whole eggs, cheddar, cottage cheese, and smoky bacon.
  • Cheese, Spinach & Kale - Made with egg whites, cottage cheese, and a healthy dose of greens for the veggie lovers out there.

Each package includes two egg bites and requires just a minute in the microwave. No prep. No cleanup. Minimal brain power required.

Review

Cheddar Cheese & Uncured Bacon

This version is straight-up comfort food in a cute, round form. The egg is fluffy thanks to the cottage cheese, the cheddar gives it a nice richness, and the bacon adds smoky, savory flavor that actually tastes real, not like weird rubbery bits. If you're someone who would wrap bacon around your cereal if it were socially acceptable, this one's for you. It's filling enough for a light breakfast, but two bites might leave hungrier folks reaching for a snack an hour later.

Cheese, Spinach & Kale

The healthier sibling that somehow still tastes indulgent. The egg white base keeps things light, while the spinach and kale add a nice earthiness without turning it into a salad. It's not a sad "diet food" situation, just a solid option if you're looking to up your veggie game or cut back on fat. This one reheats well, and surprisingly doesn't go watery or mushy like some microwave egg dishes tend to do.

Both versions come out of the microwave with a firm but fluffy texture, and they don't scream "I just came from the freezer section." That said, you'll want to let them cool slightly before biting in because molten egg lava is real.

Cheddar Cheese and Bacon

I do enjoy bacon, egg, and cheese from time to time. And this had some good bits of bacon in it along with a nice amount of cheese. Nothing that made it stringy, but one where you knew the flavor of cheddar was there. In any case, this seemed eggier than Starbucks. They do bear certain similarities, but there are some key differences.

Cottage cheese is a major ingredient in both. It's first for Starbucks, but second for Trader Joe's. Starbucks uses Gruyere and other cheese, this uses cheddar. But the bacon adds enough of a punch to this that a lot of those subtle differences disappear. Is Starbucks more bacon-y? I'd say yes.

DIY Egg Bites

If you love Egg Bites, but can't fathom spending as much as a dozen eggs on two little bites then I hear you. Here are some helpful posts to help you recreate these at home. And no, you don't need special equipment other than an oven:

  • Breakfast Egg Cups
  • Bacon and Gruyere Egg Bites
  • Egg Bites with Hatch Chile Cheddar Cheese

How to Use

  • Pop 'em in the microwave for 60 seconds.
  • Eat as-is or sandwich between an English muffin.
  • Slice and add to a wrap or breakfast taco.
  • Serve with a side of fruit or avocado toast for a full meal.

Creative Uses

  • Egg Bite Benedict: Top with a poached egg and hollandaise for a cheat-day brunch.
  • Protein Bowl Add-In: Toss over quinoa or brown rice with hot sauce.
  • Snack Tray Staple: Cut into quarters and serve with dipping sauces.
  • Mini Sliders: Place between two mini waffles and call it breakfast genius.

Trader Joe's Vegan Brioche Loaf

Trader Joe's Vegan Bioche Loaf unopened

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, quacks like a duck, is it a duck? If you are at Trader Joe's it just might be a vegan duck. And in this case, here is the best (and only) vegan brioche I've ever had. And if someone handed it to me and said nothing I would not have noticed.

An open loaf of Trader Joe's Vegan Bioche Loaf showing a slice on a plate.

Review

Brioche- that pillowy, addicting, eggy-buttery bread. I remember the first time I bought brioche at Trader Joe's. Not only was it half the price of most supermarkets, but it was also divine. Like sit down with the loaf and wonder where it went kind of good.

But there are two things that make it distinct: eggs and butter. Both are not vegan items. But vegan items have come a long way. In fact, a lot of vegan butter is pretty comparable to regular butter these days. And while I haven't dived too far into vegan eggs, I can tell you with absolute certainty that this is as close to the original as you can get.

The loaf is slightly smaller but you are getting all the joy per bite possible here. I had some misgivings trying this and assumed I would find differences quickly. Nope. I consumed a slice and said "Damn. That's spot on."

Other members of my household were inclined to agree and couldn't find major differences in both visual and taste.

So if you are vegan or just allergic to milk or eggs, then this is a fantastic alternative for you. It will give you every bit of the real feeling of brioche without the ingredients that might not jive with your digestive tract or your priorities.

And yes, if you are not vegan or allergic, you can reach for this and feel like it's a genuine substitute.

Packaging

Like other bread products, this is sold in a plastic bag that has a plastic clip keeping the air out.

Other brioche products

Trader Joe's sells several brioche products. While most aren't vegan like this product, this adds to a line of delicious bread.

  • French Brioche
  • Pumpkin Brioche Twist (Fall seasonal)
  • Brioche Toasts
  • Cream Cheese Brioche Pastries (now discontinued)
  • Artisan Brioche Rolls

Overall

While this is priced the same as Trader Joe's Sliced Brioche Bread, this is a slightly smaller package (17.6 ounces vs. 15 ounces)

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Vegan Brioche Loaf again. It was very well done and I'm not sure I would have noticed the difference.

Trader Joe's Out of this World Ice Pops

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Out of this World Ice Pops.

Let's say you love ice cream, but ice cream doesn't love you. Well, if you want a dairy-free option then Trader Joe's Out of this World Ice Pops is a solid one. And yes, these do look like a dupe of the more commonly found bomb pop.

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Out of this World Ice Pops.

Review

As a kid, I remember the heat and humidity of an NYC summer. And the joy of hearing the ice cream man come through the neighborhood. Where I grew up we didn't have a Mr. Softee. We had Steve the ice cream guy.

For some odd reason, whenever he pulled up I always asked for an Italian Ice. And these red, white, and blue pops remind me a bit of those little containers. But if you've ever had a Bomb Pops then Trader Joe's offers a bit of a more natural option.

The three layers do offer distinct flavors, but the blue layer is the faintest. Lemon is sometimes the strongest because it pairs well with the other two flavors.

The Blue layer isn't a blue from blueberries, because that would be pretty much purple. The blue comes from spirulina. And honestly, that layer ended up tasting more like the lemon layer. Almost absent the blueberry flavor. Maybe more so after trying Trader Joe's Blueberry Dream Bars.

But these were still solidly fruity and tasted fresh, and after the summer we've been having here in NYC, they are still a welcome reprieve.

Now there are no discernable bits of fruit to talk about. This is a bit more in line with what you might make at home using molds and fruit juice or lemonade.

Looks like a bomb pop, it just isn't full of artificial colors and this is way more naturally flavored. So if you have kids at home, you won't have to worry about any artificial dyes.

The packaging

Inside the box are six pops, each individually wrapped in plastic.

Overall

Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's Out of this World Ice Pops reminded me of frozen lemonade with a strawberry tip. But that is nothing to complain about in my book. So yes, I would buy these again.

Dessert, Frozen, Seasonal, Trader Joe's Trader Joes, Trader Joes Review

Trader Joe's Blueberry Dream

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Blueberry Dream.

Usually, Trader Joe's sees the biggest makeover of the frozen section before the start of the holidays and right through the New Year. This year, there are so many new products that have landed. This summer there are a ton of new and noteworthy desserts including Trader Joe's Blueberry Dream frozen dessert bars.

Review

If you've ever imagined the most blueberry ice cream without it being a puree then look no further. This is a really good mix of berries and ice cream. You have some mashed-up berries along with a strong punch of blueberry flavor which is nicely offset by real custard-based ice cream.

These are pleasantly sweet. Each pop is well portioned. Nothing too big and nothing too small.

The Ice cream is the real stuff- milk and eggs. So if those are allergens for you then there is another dessert you should check out: Trader Joe's Out of this World Ice Pops.

Reminds me of a blueberry smoothie that's been frozen. They are a bit darker in color than the packaging suggests, but believe me, it isn't a bad thing at all.

Good texture and not too heavy on the calories for a dessert. Best of all, not only do these pops look like what is on the box, but they do taste like a dream. Would I love to see other flavors just like this? Absolutely, that would be a dream.

The packaging

Inside this box are four pops. Each pop is individually wrapped in plastic.

Overall

For $3.49 for four bars that aren't too bad of a value.

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Blueberry Dream Bars again. These are seasonal items, so if you love them now is the time to stock up.

Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Scrub Review: Beachy, Buttery, and Worth the Hype?

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Brazil Nut Body Scrub on a grey surface.

Trader Joe's Brazil Nut Body Scrub took the beauty aisle by storm when it debuted, and it's easy to see why. Infused with the same tropical, beachy scent as the cult-favorite Brazil Nut Body Butter, this scrub promises smoother skin, a summer-ready glow, and a little moment of self-care in your shower routine.

At $5.99 for a 10-oz tub, it feels like a steal compared to prestige body scrubs. But is it all coconut-scented sunshine and silky skin?

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Brazil Nut Body Scrub on a grey surface.
[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Review

This scrub does two things really well: it smells incredible and it actually works.

The texture is thick and gritty without being too harsh. It uses a blend of sugar, sea salt, and crushed coconut shells for exfoliation, all suspended in a rich, nourishing base of oils and butters. When you scoop it out, it's a little sticky at first, but as you massage it onto wet skin, it spreads easily and melts in with the warmth of your shower.

The scent is where this product really shines. It's sweet, nutty, and tropical like caramel, vanilla, and pistachio had a beach vacation together. It smells very similar to the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, which is likely not a coincidence.

After rinsing, my skin felt noticeably smoother and more moisturized, neither greasy nor dry. I didn't even feel the need for lotion afterward, which says a lot.

If you're looking for a gritty scrub that leaves your skin feeling both polished and pampered, this one checks the boxes. Just be aware: the scent lingers, so if you're sensitive to fragrance, it might be a bit much.

Ingredients

Key ingredients include:

  • Sucrose (sugar)
  • Crushed coconut shell powder
  • Brazil nut oil
  • Shea butter
  • Coconut oil
  • Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

Cruelty-free. Paraben-free.
Not certified organic or vegan.

Ingredients and directions on how to use Trader Joe's Brazil Nut Body Scrub.

How to Use

  1. Scoop a generous amount with clean, dry hands.
  2. Apply to damp skin in the shower or bath.
  3. Massage in circular motions, focusing on rough spots like elbows, knees, and legs.
  4. Rinse thoroughly.
  5. Pat dry and follow with lotion or body butter if needed (but you may not even need it).

Tip: Stir the scrub occasionally to redistribute the oils if they begin to separate.

FAQs for Trader Joe's Brazil Nut Body Scrub

The following are commonly asked questions about this product:

Is this a dupe for Sol de Janeiro's body scrub?

It's very close in scent and performance but comes at a much more budget-friendly price point.

Can I use this on my face?

It's best used on the body, especially because of the coarse particles and strong fragrance.

Is the scent long-lasting?

Yes, the scent lingers on the skin for several hours after use.

Will it leave my tub slippery?

It contains oils, so be cautious-rinse your shower or tub after use to avoid slipperiness.

Is it limited edition?

It has been seasonal in the past, typically returning in spring/summer. If you can't find it on shelves, you can usually find it through third-party sellers on Amazon.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's Brazil Nut Body Scrub is one of those seasonal finds that makes you wish it were available year-round. Between the luxe scent, effective exfoliation, and post-shower softness, it's a product that feels like a treat, but without the price tag.

If you love that sweet, nutty, tropical vibe and want your skin to feel as smooth as it smells, this scrub absolutely delivers.
