Trader Joe's Japanese Souffle Cheesecakes Review: Too Fluffy to Fail?

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Japanese Souffle Cheesecakes.

Cheesecake, but make it airier, cuter, and way less likely to send you into a post-dessert nap. Trader Joe's Japanese Soufflé Cheesecakes have made their seasonal return, and if you've never tried this take on the classic dessert, now is the time. These aren't your dense New York-style slices. You serve these when you want cheesecake that practically floats off the plate, and priced at $3.29 these are very affordable.

Trader Joe's Japanese Souffle Cheesecakes Review

You'll find these in the freezer section, tucked in a bag with two petite cheesecakes. No crust, no frills, and no heavy sweetness. Just golden tops, pillowy insides, and that signature soufflé texture that feels more like a mousse-meets-sponge hybrid than a typical cheesecake. They're sold for a limited time each year and tend to disappear fast once word gets out.

The instructions couldn't be easier. Just thaw and serve. No baking, no fuss, no regrets.

Let's get one thing out of the way. These aren't going to satisfy someone hunting for a rich, New York-style cheesecake moment. But if you're the kind of person who finds regular cheesecake a bit much, these are your new best friend.

I loved how light and airy they were. The texture was somewhere between a cake and a custard, with just the right bounce when you cut into it. The flavor is mild but in a really lovely way. Not overly sweet, not too tangy, just… delicate. And they're crustless, which I actually appreciated because the texture shines without a base to distract from it.

They're also not huge, which is either a good thing or a danger depending on how many bags you bring home. One could very easily lead to two.

And the best part? No baking, no prep, no dishes. Just let it thaw and pretend you're fancy.

If I had one small wish, it would be for a bit more of that signature tang you get with cream cheese, but honestly, I'd still grab a bag or two before they vanish again. These are one of the more refined desserts Trader Joe's has to offer, and they deserve a spot in your freezer.

Trader Joe's Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls Review: Chocolate Chip Off the Old Croissant?

An unopened bag of Trader Joe's Ready to Bake Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls on a pink surface.

Trader Joe's frozen pastry game is strong. From the cult-favorite Chocolate Croissants to the Almond Croissants that practically bake themselves into bakery-level treats, they know how to do breakfast. So when I spotted these Trader Joe's Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls, I had to know: are they the next best thing or just a shortcut that misses the mark?

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Ready to Bake Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls on a pink surface.
[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Review

Trader Joe's Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls are a frozen, ready-to-bake pastry that comes in a box of four. You don't have to thaw or proof them overnight. Just preheat your oven, pop them on a baking sheet, and in about 25 minutes, you've got warm, swirled croissants filled with mini chocolate chips.

These are smaller than TJ's traditional Chocolate Croissants, and instead of bars of chocolate tucked inside, these use mini chips scattered throughout the layers. They're shaped into a swirl rather than the classic crescent, giving them more of a puff pastry pinwheel vibe.

Let's start with the positives: these are incredibly convenient. No need to plan ahead the night before, no risk of forgetting them on the counter. The baking directions were spot-on, and they puffed up nicely in the oven without needing any help.

But the flavor? It's just… different.

The dough here isn't quite as rich or buttery as the traditional croissants. The fact that it's unproofed changes the texture and flavor a bit-it's more bready than flaky, and it lacks that airy, layered quality that makes their Chocolate Croissants so memorable.

The mini chocolate chips provide a nice hit of sweetness, but they melt differently than the chocolate batons used in the original version. You get more texture and less gooeyness, which some folks might like, but for me, it felt like something was missing. It's not bad-it's just not that croissant.

Are they cute? Absolutely. Will they satisfy a pastry craving in under 30 minutes? Yep. But if you're expecting the same experience as TJ's proof-and-bake croissants, temper those expectations.

Nutritional facts and ingredients in Trader Joe's Ready to Bake Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls.

How to Serve

  • Best served warm, straight from the oven
  • Dust with powdered sugar for a bakery-style finish
  • Pair with a cup of strong coffee or espresso
  • Drizzle with a bit of cookie butter or cocoa almond spread if you want to level it up
Directions for Trader Joe's Ready to Bake Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls.

Creative Uses

  • Turn into mini croissant French toast with a quick dip in egg and milk
  • Use them for a quick chocolate chip bread pudding
  • Sandwich two with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a fancy dessert
  • Bake and slice for a sweet brunch board alongside fruit and jam

FAQs about Trader Joe's Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls

Below is a list of frequently asked questions about this product

Do you need to proof Trader Joe's Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls?

Nope. They're ready to bake right out of the freezer. Just preheat your oven and go.

How do they compare to Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissants?

They're more convenient, but the dough isn't quite as buttery or flaky. And the mini chocolate chips give a different texture compared to the melting batons in the original.

How many come in a bag?

Eight mini swirls per bag.

Can you bake them in an air fryer?

They're designed for the oven, but an air fryer might work if you adjust the time and temperature. Just be careful not to overcrowd.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's Mini Chocolate Chip Croissant Swirls are a great option when you're short on time and craving something sweet from the oven. They're fast, cute, and good enough in a pinch. But if you're looking for buttery, flaky, bakery-style perfection, the original Chocolate Croissants still reign supreme. Worth a try, but maybe not a repeat buy for croissant purists.

Best of Trader Joe's Beauty Products: I Tried Them All So You Don't Have To

Collage image of Best of Trader Joe's Beauty

Let's be real. When I go to Trader Joe's, I'm usually on a mission for cheese, frozen snacks, and whatever seasonal thing they've managed to stuff pumpkin spice into. But every now and then, I make the mistake of walking down the beauty aisle.

You know the one. It's tiny, tucked next to the supplements and vitamin gummies, and looks like it's trying to be low-key fancy without threatening Whole Foods.

But here's the thing: some of it is shockingly good. Some of it… well, let's just say my skin still hasn't forgiven me.

So I did what any slightly obsessive Trader Joe's blogger would do. I bought every skincare, body care, and beauty product I could get my hands on and tested them. I've complied a list of all the products I've tried and reviewed over the years to bring you this Best of Trader Joe's Beauty list to save you time and money.

The Best Trader Joe's Beauty Products (Ranked and Roasted in No Particular Order)

Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen in an unopened box.

Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen

A pretty good sorta like Super Goop Unseen Sunscreen without the price tag. Makes for a fantastic primer and provides good broad spectrum protection from UV rays.

Would I repurchase? Who am I kidding? I keep two of these on hand. This is one of the best overall picks. Like MVP kind of good.

Honorable mentions: Trader Joe's Mineral Daily Sunscreen, Trader Joe's Invisible Gel Body Sunscreen.

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Marula Facial Oil

Trader Joe's Marula Facial Oil

The non-pore-clogging oil is lightweight and absorbs quickly. Perfect for after exfoliating. It is also significantly cheaper than the marula oil sold at Sephora or other beauty retailers.

Would I repurchase? Yes, especially in winter.

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Strawberry Lemon Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream

Trader Joe's Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream

Comes in a bunch of varieties based on the season. It's thick but not greasy, has a soft shea scent, and actually lasts through one or two hand washings. I keep this one in my bag, my car, and probably next to every sink, too.

Varieties include: Strawberry Lemon, Pumpkin, and the Winter Seasonal Gift variety, as well as the 12 Days of Beauty, although fragrance often rotates by the year.

Would I repurchase? Yes, one is by every sink and nightstand.

An unopened jar of Trader Joe's Lavender Salt Scrub

Trader Joe's Scrubs

Maybe TLC didn't want No Scrubs, with Trader Joe's Scrubs are always welcome. These exfoliate and hydrate all in one. They might be sugar or they might be salt, but the both get the job done.

Varieties offered include: Lavender Salt, Strawberry Lemon Sugar, Grapefruit Ginger, Pumpkin, Candy Cane, and Brazil Nut.

Honorable Mention: Less abrasive and actually made for your face is the Microderm Facial Scrub and perfect for removing dead skin.

Would I repurchase? Yes, while Lavender Salt is offered year round, you'll find me picking up each seasonal variety.

An unopened box of Trader Joe's Retinol Night Serum

Trader Joe's Retinol Night Serum

Lightweight, non-greasy, and layers well under moisturizer. It's no miracle worker, but for under $10? It's a solid gateway into retinol if you're 30+ and pretending you still sleep 8 hours. You'll want to keep a good moisturizer on hand as this one causes peeling.

Would I repurchase? Yes, with tempered expectations.

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Bath Fizzers Set

Trader Joe's Bath Fizzers

If you are looking for a Lush show with Trader Joe's prices, then look elsewhere. You won't find it here. These are good for the price, but nothing special. They've sold the Bath Fizzers as a gift set and the seasonal Peony variety.

Would I repurchase? No, these are usually one and done for me. They also tend to be seasonal.

Trader Joe's Deodorant on a pink surface.

Trader Joe's Deodorant

All natural and unscented? Well, by the end of a week, I was a little too natural-smelling, too. It went on way too hard and there weren't enough redeeming qualities in this to keep using it.

Would I repurchase? Not even if it came with a coupon.

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Brazil Nut Body Butter.

Trader Joe's Body Butter

Whatever the variety or formula this usually knocks it out of the park in terms of hydration. Parched skin be gone. Fragrances vary by season. One unscented variety is sold year round. All are thick, rich, and affordably priced.

Seasonal varieties include Pumpkin, Cacay Oil, Brazil Nut, Candy Cane (with shimmer), and Vitamin C.

Would I repurchase? Yes, and I have. Each and every season.

A small tube of lip balm on a pink background

Trader Joe's Lip Balm

So here comes a mixed bag of results. The now-discontinued Trader Joe's Lip Balm Virtuoso was top tier. The holiday gift set is mid. The SPF sunscreen has a metallic aftertaste and is a dud.

Would I repurchase? Not until they resurrect the Lip Balm Virtuoso.

An unopened bottle of Trader Joe's Hair Oil on a pink surface.

Trader Joe's Hair Oil

Have some frizz? Don't worry Trader Joe's has two solid products to do you a solid in the flyaway department: Trader Joe's Hair Oil and Trader Joe's Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Hair Serum. Both are rockstars is doing what they promise.

One to pass on: If you are sensitive to fragrances, then please pass on the Leave In Conditioner. It was so floral for so long I didn't enjoy the results.

Honorable mention also goes to Trader Joe's Hair Mask, which is also another fantastic option.

Would I repurchase? Yes, without hesitation.

An unopened bottle of Trader Joe's Dry Shampoo

Trader Joe's Dry Shampoo

Hate the aerosol or the massive white splotches that aerosol dry shampoos are known for? While there is no aerosol here, this bottle serves up some occupational therapy as you'll need quite a few pumps to do the same as the canned variety. Dark-haired besties, just know this isn't as visible when you use it. It wasn't the best I've tried, but wasn't bad either. It is well-priced

Would I repurchase? This is a take it or leave it item for me.

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Cucumber and Citrus Face and Body Wipes

Trader Joe's Wipes

Two types of wipes exist: Cucumber and Citrus Facial and Body Wipes and Micellar Wipes. Both are just ok. Just wasteful. Just sell us the Micellar water, please. And while they are at it, if you really need a facial wipe, just reach for their Jojoba Oil instead. It does a way better job of makeup removal.

Would I repurchase? Nope for either.

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Vanilla Lip Mask.

Trader Joe's Lip Mask

Multiple varieties and all of them are solid. So if you lips are parched, skip over the lip balms and go straight to the lip masks. Do not pass go.

Varieties offered are the seasonal Watermelon, Gummy Bear, and the Vanilla.

Would I repurchase? Yes, give us more.

Trader Joe's Hydrating Biocellulose Face Mask- on a pink surface

Trader Joe's Masks

Masks show up in all different varieties, from single-use sheet masks to apply-it-yourself hydration in a jar. Other than being underwhelmed by the pumpkin variety, these have been pretty good overall.

Single-use masks have been the Biocellulose mask, the pumpkin spice mask, and the rich hydrating sheet mask.

Masks in a jar have been pumpkin and watermelon.

Would I repurchase? Yes, we expect more in this department for self-care.

Trader Joe's Honey Hydration Day and Night Cream Duo out of the box on a pink surface.

Trader Joe's Moisturizers

Be it the seasonal honey hydration or the gel moisturizer or even the eye moisturizer you are in good hands here. All deliver reasonably good results and a more than reasonable price point.

Would I repurchase? Hell yeah. I'm actually disappointed the honey hydration hasn't been made year-round.

Trader Joe's Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum

Trader Joe's Miscellaneous & Honorable Mentions

The packaging on these skincare products may not be beautiful, but the price is right, and the results are decent as promised.

So here's to:

  • Trader Joe's Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum- (use on hair or face to keep hydration in)
  • Trader Joe's Lemongrass Coconut Body Oil- Smells just as good as it hydrates
  • Trader Joe's Argan Oil- Perfect for hydrating hair, face, and body from a single bottle
  • Trader Joe's Antioxidant Facial Serum- It won't make you look 20 years younger, but it does feel and smell nice.
  • Trader Joe's All in One Facial Cleanser- Decent-sized bottle, good price point, just a nondescript package that will take away the day so to speak.
  • Trader Joe's Moisturizing Cream Shave- Does everything it says it will.

Would I repurchase? This is a mixed bag, but I can say I've repurchased a bunch of these since originally reviewing them.

Frequently Asked Questions about Trader Joe's Beauty Products

Are Trader Joe's beauty products cruelty-free?

Yes, they are. No animal testing here.

Are they clean or natural?

Trader Joe's doesn't lean hard into the "clean beauty" label, but many of their products are free of parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances. Always read the label.

Can I return beauty products to Trader Joe's?

Yup. Even opened. If it made your skin cry, take it back. They won't judge you.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's beauty aisle isn't huge, but it's got some gems, especially for the price. You won't find high-tech serums or 12-step routines here. However, if you're looking for solid basics with fun scents and a few surprise hits, it's worth a look.

Did I get everything on the list? Or from the aisle? If you notice anything missing, let me know in the comments. Agree or disagree I'd love for you to share your feelings on these products below.

Non Food Items, Trader Joe's Trader Joes, Trader Joes Review

Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese Spread Review: Spread Thin on Flavor, Thick on Disappointment

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese Spread.

Peaches and cream sounds like a dream, right? Unfortunately, this one stayed stuck in snooze mode. Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese Spread had so much potential to be the ultimate fruity, summery schmear, but it barely showed up to the brunch table.

An unopened package of Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese Spread.
[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Review

Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese Spread comes in a small plastic tub that looks like it's going to deliver big flavor. The packaging promises a creamy, sweet blend of peaches and cream cheese that sounds tailor-made for a hot summer morning slathered over a warm bagel.

The actual spread looks like plain cream cheese with just the faintest hint of color from the occasional fleck of peach. That's not a typo, "fleck" feels generous here.

I wanted to love this. I really did. Peaches and cream is such a classic combo and pairing it with cream cheese? It should be a win. But after a few tastes, it was clear this one was more whimper than wow.

The texture is your standard Trader Joe's whipped cream cheese-airy and easy to spread. No complaints there. But the flavor? Almost non-existent. The peach dots were so sparse, and whatever peach essence was there got completely swallowed up by the base. If someone blindfolded me and asked me to guess the flavor, I'd probably just say "plain" and move on with my life.

It felt like Trader Joe's took their whipped cream cheese, waved a peach near it, and called it a day. I kept going back for another bite hoping it would get better. It didn't.

This should have been a standout among TJ's flavored cream cheeses, but it completely missed the mark. For me, it's a one-and-done situation.

Nutritional facts for Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese Spread.

How to Serve

If you really want to use this up:

  • Spread it on a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel to try to coax more fruit flavor out
  • Swirl it into oatmeal or yogurt for a very subtle peach vibe
  • Try it in a stuffed French toast with some actual fresh peaches for backup flavor

But honestly? There are better spreads out there. You are better off taking a jarred peach and mashing it up with some regular cream cheese.

Creative Uses

  • Use it as a frosting base by adding powdered sugar and fresh peach puree
  • Mix with honey and use as a dip for graham crackers or vanilla wafers
  • Blend into a smoothie for extra creaminess (and to use it up before it expires)
Ingredients in Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese Spread.

FAQs about Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese

Below is a list of frequently asked questions about this product

Is Trader Joe's Peaches and Cream Cream Cheese sweet?

Barely. It's more like a plain cream cheese with a whisper of fruit.

Does it taste like peaches?

Only slightly. The peach flavor is so faint that you might miss it entirely.

Would it work in baking?

Possibly, but you'd need to punch up the peach flavor with real fruit or extract.

Final Thoughts

This one's a peach in theory but a plain Jane in reality. If you're a fan of bolder, fruit-forward spreads, this will leave you wondering where the flavor went. It's not offensive, but it's not memorable either. With so many creative cream cheese options on shelves these days, this one just didn't rise to the occasion. I'll pass on a second tub. If you want a better peach product, reach for the Peaches and Cream Tarte.

Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn Review: Pop It Like It’s Berry Hot

An unopened bag of Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn.

File this one under: snacks that look like they belong on a Valentine's Day Pinterest board. Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn is sweet, salty, and tart. Not to mention that it's festive, and it's got that sweet-salty-tart and-drizzled-with-chocolate thing going for it.

An unopened bag of Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn.
[feast_advanced_jump_to]

Review

This seasonal snack comes in a 5-ounce bag and costs $2.99. It features kettle-style popcorn coated with a strawberry glaze and finished off with a drizzle of chocolatey coating. It's like the popcorn version of a chocolate-covered strawberry, but in a bag. It's festive, flirty, and very on brand for the summer strawberry season.

Okay, this stuff is cute. Like, Instagram-in-a-bag cute. And when you open it up, the strawberry scent is right there: fruity and a little candy-like. The chocolatey drizzle makes it look fancy with speckles of freeze-dried strawberry.

But here's the thing: this is more style than substance. The popcorn itself is kettle-style, so there's a light sweetness from the base, but the strawberry adds less sweetness and more tartness. It's a nice contrast from the chocolate and sweet kettle corn.

The chocolate drizzle adds richness, but it's more "chocolatey-flavored" than actual chocolate. If you go in expecting a gourmet popcorn experience, this probably won't hit the mark. But if you want something snacky, sweet, and easy to share, or something that looks cute in a snack bowl, it totally delivers.

If I had to describe the texture in one word? Addictive. It's crunchy, light, and doesn't get soggy despite the coating. But be warned: the pink powder will end up on your fingers like a telltale snack crime.

Nutritional facts for Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn.

How to Serve

  • Pair it with bubbly rosé or strawberry lemonade for full spring-summer vibes
  • Serve it in a big bowl for a movie night treat
  • Add it to a candy or dessert charcuterie board
  • Toss it into a sweet snack mix with mini pretzels, white chocolate chips, and freeze-dried strawberries
Description on the side of the bag of Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn.

Creative Uses

  • Valentine's Snack Mix: Mix with cereal, pink M&Ms, and yogurt-covered raisins for a cute mix
  • Crush It: Use it as a topping on strawberry ice cream or frosted cupcakes
  • Popcorn Bark: Stir into melted white chocolate and spread it out for a crunchy candy bark
  • Gift It: Fill a clear treat bag with it and tie with a ribbon for an easy party favor

FAQs about Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn

Below is a list of frequently asked questions about this product

Is it available year-round?

Nope, this one is seasonal. It typically pops up around late spring and early summer.

Is Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Popcorn gluten-free?

There's no gluten in the ingredient list, but it's not labeled certified gluten-free. Always double-check for sensitivities.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn is the definition of a seasonal snack: sweet, fun, and not built for commitment. It's a cute, candy-coated, popcorn pick-me-up that's more about the vibe than the gourmet flavor. If you love strawberries and crunchy snacks, you'll have a good time. If you're hoping for fresh strawberries and high-quality chocolate, maybe lower the bar. I've purchased multiple bags of this, so consider me hooked. Just one sad note, this is a seasonal product, so tomorrow is not guaranteed.
